Director's Biography

Charles enjoyed a rounded school career with 11GCSEs and 4 A Levels, playing 1st team sport in Rugby, Cricket and Tennis.

He graduated with a Business Management Bsc Hons Degree in 2004 before beginning a career in sales. Starting by selling bespoke property abroad, he moved into advertising before finding his home in recruitment.

Joining a small IT recruitment firm of 3, he built a desk focused on BI from the ground to service BIG 4 Consulting Firms (Accenture, IBM, Ernst & Young), Vendors (Cognos, Business Objects, Ab Initio, SAS & Microstrategy) and multi-national Insurance Houses.

From there, post 2008 crash, Charles identified Risk & Compliance as a boom area within the recruitment industry as the banks began to re-assure the government, public and to a degree themselves that the same mistakes that led to the crash would not be repeated. Working for 2 of the City's largest recruitment firms, Charles again topped the placement tables.

In 2013, it was time for a new challenge and to impose some of his own standards and beliefs into recruitment. Utilising a network built over close to 7 years and having observed what was done well and poorly within a Titan of an industry, it was time to put a footprint on the market in the form of Henderson Drake.

KPIs, needless phone calls, irrelevant CV submissions, check in calls to "see how you are", updates regarding what business' in other sectors are doing; all on the scrapheap. Targeted, professional, concise and focussed recruitment were to be what this brand was all about.

Henderson Drake enjoyed success focussing on Business Intelligence across Microsoft Business Intelligence, Business Objects, Cognos and Tableau before adding CPM/EPM/BPM as an arm in 2015.

Revisiting the IBM world, Henderson Drake began partnering multiple partners in addition to forming partnerships with multiple CPM vendors and partners with a practice which now spans across Anaplan, Oracle, IBM, One Stream, Adaptive Insights & SAP.

Following this expansion, Henderson Drake appointed a Senior CPM expert in Fred Hipkiss; an experienced and knowledgable Consulting Director with over 30 years experience managing both BI and CPM Consultants on site across a range of technologies. Fred was appointed to technically vet candidates, offer additional advice to the candidate base and provide internal product training to Consultants. Fred has enjoyed achieving some great things while at HD and looks forward to opening the Newcastle office in 2018.
